Introduction to fern genetics with Anthony Pigott.

Anthony Pigott studied Physics at University College London but soon became interested in the genus Equisetum. This led to him amassing a collection which moved with him as his career progressed and as he moved house. In the 1980s he developed an interest in Dryopteris and began a second collection, which he has expanded over the years to become recognised by Plant Heritage as a Scientific Reference Collection. This is because it is used as both a resource for teaching and research. Anthony’s hands-on experience of studying the genetics of Dryopteris ferns, especially D. pseudocomplexa, makes him an excellent teacher for us in learning the basics of fern genetics.
