Developing a Platycerium Collection with Hans-Peter Vierstraete

Hans-Peter is a member of the Dutch Fern Society and of the Exotic Fern Group. He became interested in Platycerium species a few years ago and, after reading Daniel Ruprecht’s book King of the Ferns (2021), he determined to set about growing Platycerium superbum in his home in the Netherlands. With the book he had received from Daniel some Platycerium superbum spores and so his venture into Platycerium cultivation began. He now has several species and has amassed some experience in trying to grow and maintain these fascinating ferns. He has offered to tell us of the pleasures and pitfalls he has experienced over the last few years.
